Berlinale Meeting Point 2026
Growing Stories across Borders
Join us at the KIDS Regio Berlinale Meeting Point 2026, in cooperation with the Creative Europe Desk Berlin-Brandenburg and a focus on co-production.
They are widely regarded as a key strength of the European audiovisual landscape, enabling creative exchange, shared financing, and cross-border circulation. And often, co-productions are the only way to bring ambitious stories to the screen. But behind the collaborative promise lies a complex reality.
This year’s Meeting Point opens with a presentation of the Eurimages Co-Production Fund, a vital European support scheme that has a lot of untapped potential, particularly for live-action films aimed at children. The session then moves on to practical insights drawn from concrete case studies.
One of them is I Accidentally Wrote a Book, a Dutch-Hungarian co-production and one of this year’s European Film Award nominees for Best Young Audience Film. Producers Maaike Neve (BIND, NL) and Claudia Sümeghy (Juno Pictures, HU), together with director Nora Lakos (HU), will share how they bridged two distinct production and financing landscapes to bring this story to life.
Rather than idealising or discouraging co-production models, this session aims to open a candid conversation: What can go wrong? What requires particular care when working across borders? What can we learn from each other?
