KIDS Regio @ Golden Sparrow Festival 2025
Window to Europe and Beyond: Discovering Variety in Children’s Media
Time: 5 June 2025
The KIDS Regional Session once again opens up a view that transcends national and linguistic borders. For the second year running, we are collaborating with Berlinale Generation, who will provide us with fascinating insights into this year’s festival. We are also pleased to welcome a new partner, the Prix Jeunesse, who will be complementing our programme with cinematic impulses from inspiring television formats. Together, we are creating a space for diverse perspectives that invites you to broaden your horizons.
Melika Gothe, the Berlinale Generation section manager, will provide insights into relationship-oriented work with young audiences. She will present the films in this year’s selection that are particularly effective, and discuss the role of participation programmes such as Generation Badge 14plus, which was introduced in 2025 for viewers and festival organisers.
The Prix Jeunesse International, held biennially in Munich for over 60 years, showcases outstanding children’s and youth television programmes from around the globe. It showcases high-quality, innovative narrative forms and deliberately provocative approaches. Watching and discussing these programmes together opens up spaces beyond familiar boundaries. Kirsten Schneid presents selected formats that have made a particularly strong impression at the Prix Jeunesse.

Speaker:
– Melika Gothe (Section Manager Berlinale Generation)
– Kirsten Schneid (Festival and Project Coordinator at the Prix Jeunesse International)
