The Opening Industry Day 2013

In cooperation with KIDS Regio
during The Financing Forum for Kids Content

11. March 2013, Malmö

The most exciting international speakers were invited, to shed light on how to navigate in a diversified market without losing focus. Top industry profile Wendy Bernfeld  (The Netherlands, Ireland), Rights Stuff, set out the new digital landscape regarding content as well as financing and cross-platform exploitation with special focus on film- and media projects for children.

Two of the most experienced interactive producers Jason DaPonte (former Managing Editor of BBC Mobile) and Asta Wellejus (former Zentropa Interactive CEO) presented a selection of the most intriguing and non-patronizing international transmedia projects for children from the last four years.

On top of that we matched participants with representatives of new players in the field of funding/ commissioning/ aquisitioning creative content.

There is clearly a shift taking place in the Media World, particularly in the diversification of players and markets. Companies like Amazon, Google, Netflix, Maxdome, Telekom, Apple, Samsung and Nokia own platforms, which have become serious players in the global distribution of content. The children’s and youth audience across Europe by their nature are often in the lead in the take-up of new technology, new platforms and new content forms. These changes in audience relationships and habits mean that the creative industries have to go beyond classical forms of financing and distribution.
