From Data to Action: Practical Applications of Research in Filmmaking
Join us at the KIDS Regio Berlinale Meeting Point, co-hosted with PUBLIKUM.io/Will & Agency, for an engaging exploration into the world of film industry research.
This year’s focus is inspired by our collaborative initiative Keeping up with Children as an Audience, a pan-European research project that aims to comprehensively understand how children across the continent perceive and engage with film. We look at how filmmakers can use data and research to improve their art and better connect with their audiences.
Date: 17 February 2024
Time: 12:00 – 14:15 with admission already starting at 11:30
Venue: The Representation of the Free State of Thuringia
Address: Mohrenstraße 64 / 10117 Berlin, Metro Station Mohrenstraße
The event will feature insightful presentations from two colleagues in film research and strategy. Rikke Flodin of PUBLIKUM.io/Will & Agency will present the methodology and approach of our joint study, which aims to shed light on the nuances of children’s audiences across Europe. Following this, Eva Novrup Redvall from the University of Copenhagen will present findings from the Reaching Young Audiences research project, which is being conducted between 2019 and 2024, and highlight its implications for the industry.
An interactive discussion led by KIDS Regio’s project manager, Anne Schultka, with Rikke and Eva will give participants a unique opportunity to understand how to access, interpret and apply research in their daily work. This is a must-attend session for anyone looking to harness the power of data and insight to create more impactful and resonant work for young audiences.
After the input session which will last approximately 75 minutes, we invite participants to a casual networking opportunity. This will be a chance for attendees to connect, exchange thoughts on the session’s topics, and discuss their own experiences in the film industry. This part of the event reflects KIDS Regio’s belief in the power of community and conversation in advancing the field of children’s cinema.
