Esther Schmidt is a freelance marketing and communication expert and (industry) event organiser. After her studies in Communication she started working on the ilmset and at several production companies. For ten years she worked as marketing and communication manager at the acclaimed Dutch production company Lemming Film, known for many successful children’s and family films such as LEPEL, BONKERS, FROGS & TOADS, EEP!, TAKING CHANGES, MY GRANDPA THE BANK ROBBER. That’s were her love for children’s film arose. Since 2011 she works as freelance marketing and organisation advisor for producers, distributors and festivals and wrote the book VAN ABELTJE TOT ZOOP on the history of Dutch Children’s films and several international publications about Dutch Children’s films under the name THE DUTCH TOUCH. She worked at Cinekid and IDFA and organised the industry programme of the Netherlands Film Festival and the Conference of the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Recently she wrote a report on distribution and exhibition of Dutch Children’s Film in The Netherlands.
