Sanne Juncker Pedersen
Sanne Juncker Pedersen (Editor of Audience Development, DFI) spearheaded the initiative ´Closer to the Audience´ launched by The Danish Film Institute back in 2020. Backed by the funding scheme ‘AudienceFocus’ she has over the last 4 years worked closely with the Danish film industry and new partners to create innovation and progress within the field of audience research and audience awareness in development stage and pre-production. The Danish Film Institute has so far aided 70 projects, many of the audience studies being within children and youth. She was also behind the development and launch of a new knowledge sharing platform ´About Audience´ at dfi.dk in 2020, with the ambition to democratize access to as much knowledge and data about the Danish audience, reach, audience profiles and the market as possible.
Background
Sanne Juncker Pedersen has over the last 15 years worked with out-reach and marketing and as an adviser and interlocutor for the Danish film industry and the commissioners in regards to audience perspectives from script stage, through development on to production and until the film actually hits the market. She has worked with the most commercial films, films and series for children and youth as well as with art-house films with smaller or more niche audiences. Before she was appointed Editor of Audience Development, she was part of the selection-committee for ´The market scheme´ for 10 years. ´The market scheme´ supports the development and production of Danish feature films with a large audience potential based on qualitative criteria’s. In 2022 she co-initiated and developed the qualitative study ‘Close-up: A study of 7-18 year olds and their lives with films, series and social media’. Since 2023 she has also been part of the selection committee for the Public Service Fund, supporting drama series for adults, children and youth and works continuously with strategy development in the area of children and youth.
