Jason DaPonte has over 15 years experience working at the junction where media and technology collide – and he loves it.  THE SWARM is his new venture. Before starting THE SWARM, he spent the last 3 years working in the midst of the mobile content and services explosion as Managing Editor of BBC Mobile where he oversaw the content across the BBC’s mobile web, apps and messaging offers. Before that, he was an Executive Producer for BBC ONLINE and chaired the BBC Future Media Editorial Forum and was a mentor and facilitator on the BBC Creative Network. He is on the Business Advisory Board for Ravensbourne – a world-class college focusing on innovation in digital media and design.   He is also a board advisor to both Sunday Drive, an in-car mobile content startup based in Los Angeles, and Endz2Endz – a youth charity that believes that positive portrayal of young people in the media will encourage young people to engage in positive behaviours. Jason is also a mentor and facilitator on Crossover Labs and X Media Lab.  In this capacity he’s advised many small businesses and helped them build mobile and digital media competency in the UK, Sweden, Korea and Australia. He has also worked in digital roles for: The Economist, Flavorpill, CitySearch, FOX, The Washington Post, U.S. News & World Report and Dealtime.com.
