Beate Biermann

Beate Biermann is a producer for MDR in the department of Feature-Series-Children since 1992 and responsible for the planning, acquisitioning and dubbing of feature films and series for children for ARD and KiKA. In 2014 and 2015 Beate has won the TV award EMIL for quality TV programmes. The producers in the department Feature-Series-Children work on the TV and cinema implementation of original film sources. Before that, she has worked as a director and assistant director for children‘s television of the GDR. MDR is the public broadcaster for the German federal states of Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, and is contributed to the first German TV channel (ARD). Within the ARD network, MDR manages the children‘s channel KiKA in Erfurt. MDR was involved in award-winning children’s films like WINTER‘S DAUGHTER (winner of the German Film award) and SPUTNIK. In addition, together with the film industry, politics and public-service TV stations, MDR is involved in the initiative “Outstanding Films For Children“ trying to strengthen and support the production of children‘s films in Germany. At the same time, MDR supports international co-productions.
